Nous suivons pendant trois ans trois d’entre eux et leur maître : leur apprentissage, leur participation aux championnats nationaux et internationaux et leur vie quotidienne. Nous découvrons leurs luttes, leurs angoisses et leurs espoirs.
In India, a group of boys dream of becoming Chess Masters. Filmed over three years, Algorithms travels with three talented boys and a totally blind player turned pioneer to competitive national and world championships and visits them in their home milieu where they reveal their struggles, anxieties and hopes.

Ian McDonald, sociologue du sport et documentariste, utilise le cinéma pour ses travaux de recherche au Royaume-Uni et en Inde. Ses documentaires ont été projetés dans de nombreux festivals internationaux. Il enseigne à l’Université de Brighton (Royaume-Uni). Algorithms est son premier long métrage documentaire.
